Two groups of interenet users

Security awareness is a very important issue nowadays because many of the computer users are unaware of the fact that they might be attacked by a virus . The regular users of the internet basically can be divided into two groups. Those users belong into the first group who notice that their computer is infected by a virus. We categorize all those internet users in the second group who are unaware of the fact that their computer is infected and they are just tearing their hair out when their computer is disobey to their command and start working on their own. To meet with these strange and awkward symptoms both group can likely agree that there is nothing abominable than viruses in the computer. That is why computer users should be aware of the fact that information or computer security is very important.

Virus like a cockroach

Many people think that they can get rugged virtual pest by visiting pornographic sites. But its not like that. Because it is the cockroach who choose not the person, and the situation is almost the same with the viruses . as well. But if you want to be sure that your computer is safety first of all you have to be sure that you have all the tools to keep your computer in safe. That what we call security awareness . The only way is save your computer if you know all the risk that treating you. But for this you have to be well trained and it is recomended to take part in security awareness training .

Security Awareness

Be aware of the fact that you can lose a lot of important information out of neglect. There are malicious people who want to get your data or some company information where you work so that they get their income or plus money. And by being neglect you can facilitate their work. So how can you be sure that your personal details are under safe and protection? One viable way is to train yourself by paying attention to your habits.

Some tips for security awareness:

  • Do not throw the cd into the dustbin without smashing or breaking it!
  • Do not keep your passwords, codes in your cell phone! Better to keep them in your memory.
  • Do not keep your ID, bank cards in your purse, might pickpocket steal both.
  • Cut all those papers that contain your adress, name, bills and checks into pieces!

At the same time in most cases the disappearing of important information are caused by the laptop theft and the owners neglect.
On one hand the notebooks, the PDA are mostly stolen by the offenders at the airport, on trains, from cars but on the other hand the disorganised owners leave behind them on these scenes. Number of times it happened that these equipments have been stolen from the office.
However the offenders mostly steal the laptops and PDA not because of getting informations but its value.

All in all data loss can make big property damage for companies. And to prevent it you must have security awareness in your mind. Better to know the proper method of eliminating the paper which containing important data or make an up to date security copy of the important data.

Internet Security In China

Nowadays almost everybody has a computer and internet connections that we want to know is safe. There are different kinds of possibilities to make our computer safe from the viruses and from the malicious programs.

In China virtual cops take care of the Chinese internet users. The Beijing Police Force wants to have the attention of the internet users, with the help of virtual patrol, that they should avoid visiting the illegal and pornographic websites.

While surfing on the sites a cyber cop will appear in pop up window like an advertisement at the bottom of the screen every half an hour.

Keep Your Passwords Secret

Once you have created strong passwords you should not show to the others. Keep it in safe from family members, from friends and from co-workers. If you write down your created password or you record it be careful and don't leave it anywhere in order to protect your important information. You should never give out your password throughout the internet or e-mail that request it because most of the time they are false sites. If you change your password regularly it can help keeping away the criminals. A longer character password can be used for longer time, like several months or years than a weaker, shorter password.

Password Strategies To Avoid

There are some passwords that are easy to guess for professional cyber-criminals. Creating week passwords are unprofitable. We should avoid repeated characters like "222222" and using our login name as a password. We should use different password for different system. Also we should not keep our password in our computer or in online storage because they might have the access to all of our information.

The use of a blank password (no password at all, you can use this option on your account) is not always a good idea. For example, a laptop computer that you take with you is probably not physically secure, so on those you should have a strong password.

How To Create Strong Passwords

To protect our personal information from cyber criminals we should have a strong password. Fortunately, it is quiet easy to create strong passwords and keep them well protected. Make your password long because each character you add will increase the protection and combine letters, symbols and numbers. You should use phrases that you can easily remember for but for others the hardest to guess.

Use these 6 steps to create a strong password:

1. Think of a sentence that you can remember. This will be the basic of your strong password. For example "My dog likes playing with balls."

2. Check if the computer or online system supports the spaces between characters. If yes, you should use it.

3. If the computer or online system does not support the spaces then convert it to a password. Take the first letter of each word of the sentence that you've created to create a new, non-logical word. Using the example above: "mdlpwb".

4. Make it to a complex one by using uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers. The longer the sentence, the more complex your password can be. With spaces might become "My DoG LiKeS PlAyInG WiTh BaLlS." If the computer or online system will not support spaces, use the same technique on the shorter password. "MdLpWb".

5. Finally, use some special characters as symbols."MyDoG LiKe$ PlAyInG Ball$" or a password (using the first letter of each word) "MdLpW$".

What To Do If Your Password Is Stolen

We protect all of our important information, like credit reports, financial statements, shopping accounts, with passwords. There are thieves and cheaters whose aim is to steal information, data or identity from us. There is no guarantee they can't steal the passwords but we can make some effort by creating strong passwords. If we notice that any suspicious activity has happen first of all turn to the proper authorities and keep the contact with them.
Then change the passwords on all of your online accounts. Then open a new account and create a strong password.

Spam

What is the spam?

Spam is a bulk of electronic message, advertisement mainly trough e-mails that the receiver didn’t asked for. The biggest part of these information are uninterested for the receiver and also it’s eat up the storage place. Spamming is economically viable because advertisers have no operating with costs beyond the management of their mailing lists, and it is difficult to hold senders accountable for their mass mailings. Spam can be used to spread computer viruses, Trojan horses or other malicious software.

How to protect against the spam?

- Delete without open it.

- Deploy spam identifier program.

- Block the sender’s email address.

- When the spam arrived you send back to sender a false default message.

- If you broadcasted your email address on web pages you should cover it up against the getting in.

- The sender companies’ legal prosecution.

- Using screen on the correspondent desktop.

Deploy Anti-virus Program

Keeping safe computers of our enterprise from viruses is not as simple as installing an anti-virus program anymore. Viruses have become much more complex and it is able to enter to our network from many vectors. It can come from infected home computers or email which containing malware or from users who surfing inappropriate web sites.
If we deploy anti-virus program to our computer we must be sure that the software/hardware and the processes will ensure its effectiveness. And we should keep updating the anti-virus program.

Data Protection

Nowadays our personal details are known to a number of people and that number is increasing by time. The reason is: we use computers as a storage, the whole world is in computers. Our personal data are at the authorities, at bank, at school, at police stations and at working place. The data protection is very important in these cases. These information are not allowed to use illegally. If yes, it is against the law and the offender should be punished. Employers and authorities should have a limit of using those information as well.
For example an employer can monitor its staff whether they activity is legal because the employer is responsible for the acts and the omissions. Although monitoring must be for a specific purpose and not involve the retention of more data than is appropriate. As for the authorities: there is a regulation which empowers "designated persons" to demand communications data from network or postal operators. This fundamental aim is to obtain data which may assist to stop organised crime. Communications data is also known as "traffic data":

1. senders and addressees of emails

2. file size of emails and attachments

3. times and duration of phone calls

4. location data on mobile phone users

5. URL's of websites visited

6. newsgroups accessed

Cell Phone

Mobile phones are not the latest version of communication technology but it is still common, and people are like using them. But as the other technical equipment there is a possibility to heck it: steal data, start phone calls and write SMS. Also download viruses. Companies are on the way to create relatively secure operating systems but trickery and social engineering continue to manipulate people. For example, cyber criminals disguise files to make them look like interesting freeware. Bluetooth users may find themselves asked: "Would you like to install this program now?" When they click "no," the question persists. The reason why people get infected: because they repeatedly click 'no' and obviously 'no' doesn't work and so they click 'yes' and they get infected. How you can prevent? Just walk away if you meet the question and then go into your Bluetooth settings and disable Bluetooth completely or make it hidden for all other devices.
At the same time there are users who ignore the security warnings and therefore they install malware to their phones. Also it is possible that some problems may be caused by unclear instructions on the users interface. Phone user’s ignorance is the biggest reason of having problems with their phones.

People's Defencelessness

The digitalization is growing fast from day to day from hour to hour and from minute to minute. We are facing newer technological innovations so the everyday people don't really have the time and the possibility to understand and learn about those innovations. Our defencelessness is unavoidable against the technology. Our communications with the world, with our partners and friends are getting faster and faster as well. The personal communication between people has changed to the technological transmitted communications. We are giving out thousands of information and data from our hands with the help of the technology which we trust in. We trust in it because it is new, fast and we regard as if it is safe. While we don't even think that data hunters are taking over. They are getting entangled into our life to steal out a small peace from it so that they can use the information for their interest. They are developing the technology from day to day from hour to hour and from minute to minute. Stealing and copying the data, our life is a bigger threat than a physical attack. We should protect ourselves against this attack continuously and consciously. We should know what, when and how we share the information whether it is formal or informal. Keep the speed with the technological developing in order to know we can't trust unconditionally in the technology and to our data are felt to be safe, namely: our life.
